At about 9:30 we all climbed into the good news church truck and drove into the lovely city of Chang rai to see God work through the Destiny Rescue ministry. We learned about how they change girls from working as prostitutes to reintegrating into society with life and job skills as well as knowledge of God and his mighty love. We got a tour around their facility as we walked through their jewelry making shop and learning classroom. We then wanted to witness more Destiny Rescue had to offer, so we ate lunch at their Destiny Café. We ate wonderful meal together with refreshing smoothies and AC. smile emoticon
"Finally we got to the college house!" I cried. I was so tired, but as I walked into the room, I noticed they specially turned on the AC for us Americans. We had great fellowship playing Mafia (PCJ is the MAFIA!!) as other students trickled in from school. When it came time, we got to have KFC and pizza for dinner; which was delicious by the way. Soon we started worshiping God and played a funny icebreaker (jack thy neighbor). We then broke off into guys and girls and shared what we struggled with and what we needed prayer for. Many of the college shared how they want to do well in school, but one stood out to me. He wanted to make sure that he would make "good" friends his first of college. That really hit me because it reminded me how even though I live in a protected world, that there are still many who don't go down the right path. After prayer and sharing, we grouped back up. (the girls took way longer, so the guys had to wait) we took a bunch of pictures and had lots of fun. On the other hand, we were all sad because we weren't going to see each other for a long time. We exchanged hugs and handshakes as we left the college house exhausted and sleepy.
For me personally, I felt like this day was how God answered my prayers to be able to share with those who were older than me. It showed me that no matter how old you are, you can still make a difference. I also felt God showed me the way life "really" is in Thailand, with prostitution in almost every bar. He also showed me that many people devote their lives to ministries that help out those in dire need and that's how I should live my life; all for God.
