I can't believe that it is day 7 of our trip! It has been an amazing week where God has truly shown His goodness! Today, we held a carnival for the Khaodee kids and their friends, so it was a jam packed day filled with good times and full of God's blessings! :)
watching the kids and their friends play the 24 games that our team had planned, ranging from jump roping in huge clown feet, picking up marbles with chopsticks, getting their faces painted, and even playing Dunko! (yes, it was semi-ghetto as it simply involved dumping a bucket over someone's head, but it was quite fun nonetheless!!!)
Seeing the kids enjoy the gigantic bounce house that was set up on the volleyball court…think Pump it Up, but in Thailand!
Eating a delicious lunch of spicy noodle soup ("aroi mak mak!!!"=very delicious) and then enjoying an even more delicious treat of coconut ice cream…I had 3 servings…my belly=happy!!!(my belly experienced even more happiness later, as the amazing cook at Khaodee prepared my favorite dish--pumpkin curry! )
Seeing the kids enjoy all of the snacks and nifty prizes that we purchased for them when they redeemed their tickets--big winners all around!
God blessed us with beautiful, sunny weather during the exact timeframe of the carnival; God's goodness was so evident as the weather was overcast and rainy both the morning of the carnival and right after the carnival ended! Because of the good weather, the kids were able to enjoy the bounce house as well as eating and playing games outside.
We were able to rent the bounce house for a discounted price AND for a longer period of time, because the vendor wanted to support the needs of the children--totally awesome!
God' sovereignty was displayed as He orchestrated our team teaching English to a local school Monday -Wednesday (please see previous blogs) which allowed us to build relationships with those students and staff. A good number of the students from that school, as well as the English teacher, came to the carnival and were able to hear the Gospel preached. Some of the kids from Khaodee also invited their friends, which served as an awesome testimony of their faith.
The carnival could not have happened without the high school and college aged kids at Khaodee, who helped to set up for the carnival and actually run all of the booths! Their pure and willing hearts to serve God in any way that they can (without complaining!) teaches me so much about true servanthood and humility. Despite a very busy week, the high schoolers even stayed up late the night before to put together a skit and sing a song to share about God's grace and love to all those who attended the carnival…
…and because God is completely all-knowing, Clifton shared a similar message to the entire group about how God deeply loves His people and only asks them to love Him back. Even though Clifton and the high schoolers had not communicated to each other what their message would be about, God knew how to use them both to convey His message of salvation and love.
Following the carnival, our team was blessed with the privlege to join the praise night at Khaodee, which was an almost indescribable experience of relentless passion and unabashed praise to the Lord. It was a time of true worship, meeting God through song and prayer!
I am so glad that I believe in and serve a God who blesses me and His people with the experience of JOY! It was completely apparent today that all of the kids truly enjoyed themselves at the carnival! It is my prayer and hope that in addition to the good times .the kids were also affected and blessed by the message of true life and love that can only be found in Christ. I continue to be humbled by the opportunity to be used by God--especially in such a fun way!--to share His truth and to see His purpose for this missions trip fulfilled.
