Experiencing Thailand. That is how I would sum up the adventure that was today. The past 3 days here in Thailand have centered around the Khaodee area and the local school, but today was different. Today we got to experience quintessential Thai activities…the things that would probably pop into your mind when I told you I went to Thailand for vacation.
Our first stop was at a small side-of-the-road truck that sold some delicious Thai ice tea; a big cup for only 20 baht, which equals to about 75 cents. Sweet + cheap = my cup of tea!! (hehe couldn’t resist that pun) If that were all we did, I’d have still been a happy camper, but alas, we journeyed on. Our next stop was to the Maekok River where we had to take a boat to our final destination. The 40 minute boat ride was nice
As exciting and enjoyable as it was to do all these “Thai” things, it was our last adventure that made me really feel like I experienced Thailand. We got to spend some time fellowshipping with the college Khaodee kids and God really gave me the opportunity to see Thailand from their point of view. By the end of the night, after realizing that we sing the same songs, play the same games, eat the same foods, and share the same struggles, God showed me just how big He really is….how He transcends language and culture and holds ALL of us in His loving hands! All I can say is I’m really glad I didn’t stop my day at Thai iced tea!
